Insa

Insa

As many who visit this site will know, one of our founder members, Insa Thierling, fell ill early in 2001 with an unusual and aggressive sarcoma. She received much support and after almost six months was able to get home, where she died peacefully on July 21st. We had the great honour of conducting her funeral ceremony.

We’d like to thank everyone who prayed for her, sent her energy, or simply wished her well. Please remember Stewart, her partner, in your prayers. Her hospital diary is still online, please read it.

Insa was a vibrant, intelligent and creative individual and is deeply missed by all who knew her. We are fortunate to have two examples of her creativity and intellect on this site to keep the memory of those aspects of her personality alive: a poem, Ancient Spirit, which Insa wrote in memory of Chris Turner, founder of the Druids of Albion, while she was ill — the poem now stands as memorial also to Insa and her spirit; and an article on the Cailleach which appeared in the May 2001 issue of Tooth & Claw, the journal of the British Druid Order.
